Town of Gander Set to Launch “Texts from the Town” in Partnership with NL Tech Company TxtSquad

Gander, NL – April 9, 2025

The Town of Gander is set to launch “Texts from the Town”, a new text message notification service designed to keep residents informed with timely, relevant updates right to their phones.
In partnership with Newfoundland and Labrador-based tech company TxtSquad, the Town will send important municipal notifications, event reminders, and public notices. 

“We’re thrilled about this partnership, as it enables us to enhance communication with our residents while also contributing to the growth of the province’s tech industry,” said Mayor Percy Farwell, Town of Gander. “By embracing innovation, we’re not only enhancing community engagement but also positioning Gander as a forward-thinking municipality that champions local technological advancement.”

TxtSquad’s system allows the Town to deliver short, straightforward updates without the need for apps or accounts. “Texts from the Town” will officially launch on April 15, 2025, with sign-up instructions available that day.

Residents will receive concise, need-to-know information—no logins, no downloads, just a quick message when it matters most.
