Community Partnership Fund

The Community Partnership Fund (CPF) supports local organizations that aim to improve life in
Gander. Through two funding streams—operational and capital funding—CPF contributes to the
development of inclusive programs, enhances infrastructure, and promotes community well-being.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Registered charity or non-profit with sustainable operations
  • Inclusive access for all Gander residents
  • Programs/services enhance community well-being
  • Active Board of Directors
  • No outstanding financial obligations with the Town
  • The application form has been fully completed

Funding Streams

Operating Funding – Core Programs
Up to $5,000 per organization, per year.
  • Supports day-to-day programming, outreach, or other recurring costs.
  • Organizations already receiving operational support from the Town may only apply if the proposed initiative is clearly distinct and offers added community benefit.
  • Priority is given to new applicants not currently receiving operational support.
Capital Investment Program
Up to $20,000 per project.
  • Supports one-time investments in infrastructure or equipment with a direct public benefit.
  • Organizations are eligible once every five (5) years under this stream.
  • Funding does not cover:
    • Ongoing repairs or maintenance
    • Non-fixed furniture
    • Financing costs
    • Recurring operational expenses

Funding Guidelines & Limitations

  • Capital funding is limited to once every five (5) years per organization.
  • Operational funding may only be approved for additional initiatives that are distinct from those already funded.
  • Multi-year projects may be proposed, but funding is granted on a year-to-year basis and is not guaranteed.
  • Funding is not available for:
    • Individuals or for-profit businesses
    • Religious or political groups for proselytizing
    • Debt repayment, accumulated deficits, or fundraising events with a profit focus

Follow these simple steps to apply for funding:


Step 1: Check Eligibility

  • Ensure your organization meets the eligibility criteria outlined on the Eligibility Checklist. This includes being a registered charity or non-profit, providing inclusive access to Gander residents, and having an active board of directors.


Step 2: Choose the Funding Stream

There are two types of funding available:

  • Operational Funding – For ongoing costs such as staff, programming, and outreach.

  • Capital Funding – For one-time infrastructure, facility, or equipment upgrades.

You may apply for either or both funding types by completing the relevant sections in the application.


Step 3: Complete the Online Application Form

  • Download and fill out the fillable PDF application form.

  • Provide information about your organization, the proposed initiative, and how it benefits the Gander community.

  • Be sure to complete all relevant sections, including those specific to the funding stream(s) you’re applying for.


Step 4: Gather Supporting Documents

  • Prepare the required documents (e.g., financial statements, bylaws, proof of charitable status). Ensure they are complete and up-to-date.


Step 5: Submit the Application Form and Documents

Email your completed application form and supporting documents to:

Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed by the program committee.

You will be notified of the outcome once a decision has been made.

Applications are reviewed by the Community Partnership Review Committee, appointed by Council. Proposals are assessed based on:

  • Community Impact – How the initiative supports well-being, resilience, or vibrancy

  • Reach & Demographics – Who is served, and how inclusive and accessible the programming is

  • Collaboration – Level of partnership with other groups or institutions

  • Sustainability – Evidence of long-term planning and organizational capacity

  • Social Determinants of Health – Influence on factors like housing, education, health, access to services, and safety
