The Town of Gander is centrally located on the island portion of the eastern Canadian Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Situated alongside the Trans-Canada Highway, Gander is 575 km (357 mi) easterly from the Marine Atlantic Ferry Terminal in Port aux Basques and 335 km (208 mi) westerly from the Provincial capital, St. John’s.
The TCH crosses the island portion of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador from Port aux Basques in the west through Gander to St. John’s in the east, a distance totaling 910 km (565 mi).

Gander International Airport
Gander International Airport, in service since 1938, has the capabilities and modern infrastructure to handle the world’s largest aircraft, including the Airbus A-380 and Antonov’s behemoth An-225.
As the main entry point into North American airspace, Gander International Airport provides scheduled and charter services for passengers and cargo to major airports, connecting with transcontinental and international routes. It also provides regional/local charter services and services for private aircraft transiting Gander.
The terminal building offers shopping and dining opportunities and a variety of other amenities. Taxi and DRL bus services are available and several car rental agencies operate kiosks in the domestic arrivals area.
