Clean and Green:
The Town of Gander’s annual Clean and Green campaign will run from June 7th till the 16th . This is the time of year when the snow has disappeared the winter garbage becomes an eye sore .  We are looking for volunteers / organizations to help our community look cleaner for the summer .  We supply the gloves , bags and pickup! For  more information please call Walt at 651-5958 or drop by the Steele Community Center between 8:30 and 4:30 Monday through Friday to Register.

Festival Of Flight Musicfest:
Attention Musicians .  The Town of Gander are now accepting applications for the Festival of Flight Musicfest .  Musicfest 2017 happens at Cobbs Pond Rotary Park Aug. 7th .  For more information please call Walt at 651-5958 .  Application can be picked up at the Steele Community Center between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday till Friday . Deadline for applications is Friday July 14th.

Concert in the Park:
Summer is back and so is the Friday Concert in the Park series !  Concerts run from 12:15 till 1:45 each Friday beginning  July 7th .  For more information on Playing give Walt a call at 651-5958 .  Bring your lunch , kick back and enjoy the music !

Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of Gander has received an application to develop apartment type buildings on the Pentecostal Assemblies property situated at 55-59 Elizabeth Drive.

It is noted that this area is zoned Commercial General in the Gander Municipal Plan and “Apartment Building” is permitted as a Discretionary Use under the Town of Gander Development Regulations.

Anyone wishing to make representation on this matter must do so in writing and the representation must be received by the Engineering Department, Town of Gander, no later than 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

The Town of Gander 2017 Spring Special Clean-up event will be held May 8 – 19, 2017.

The residential clean-up system is as follows:

- Under this system, each street will be completed once during each week of the clean-up period.

- Clean-up refuse will be picked up on the day of your scheduled household garbage collection.

- Refuse must not be put out before or after the designated dates for the clean-up.

Please sort refuse into Five (5) separate piles at the curbside as indicated:

 Pile 1: Regular household/kitchen garbage and recyclables, in the appropriate clear or blue bag.

 Pile 2: Metals, including large appliances made mostly of metal.

 Pile 3: Branches must be tied and bundled (max. 5ft lengths).

 Pile 4: Construction and Demolition wood, lumber, wooden chairs & tables, wooden dresser/desk. All nails must be removed or completely bent into wood.

 Pile 5: All other refuse, including covered furniture, mattresses and plastic debris.

- All loose material (gyproc, glass, shingles, ceramic tiles, etc.) must be in appropriate container (max. 50lb per container).

- Broken glass and other sharp objects must be clearly marked.

For Car Wreck removal, please call Central Metals (1983) Ltd. at 256-7780.

Rocks, gravel or concrete will not be removed.

Hazardous waste such as propane cylinders, paint, pesticides, oil, etc. will not be collected. Please contact the Norris Arm Regional Waste Management Facility at 651-2930 ext. 9 for further information.

Garden Waste will not be collected; however, it may be dropped off at the compost site located at 34 McCurdy Drive at any time.

Year-round disposal services:

1. Residents are reminded that the McCurdy Drive Waste Transfer Station accepts materials on selected Saturdays throughout the year.

2. Metals may be dropped off at Central Metals (1983) Ltd. during normal business hours.

3. Good Used Furniture will be collected by Evangel Pentecostal Church. To arrange pick-up please call 256-4762.

4. Grass and Leaves may be dropped at the community composting site located at 34 McCurdy Drive.

5. Trees and Branches may be dropped at the chipping site adjacent to the Magee Road Treatment Plant.

6. Computers and peripherals including printers and monitors, along with home or personal audio/video systems and non-cellular phones, may be dropped off at Scotia Recycling, Green Depot, located on Garrett Drive.

Please note: This clean-up event is for Town of Gander residents only; contractor-generated debris or refuse brought in from other communities will not be collected.

The Town of Gander is advising residents that flushing of the water main will begin on May 1 and will continue until June 16, 2017.

Residents may experience fluctuating water pressure, discolouration or debris in the water lines. If this occurs, run the water until clear, then remove faucet aerators and carefully flush any debris from screens and washers. Ensure all parts are assembled in the correct order and orientation.


The purpose of the flushing is to provide higher quality water.

Notice is hereby given that Council has received an application from E.R.G. Holdings Ltd. to operate a home office for a commercial janitorial and snow clearing business from 21 Payette Street.

It is noted that home occupation is permitted as a “discretionary use” for the zone in which this property is located.

The Town of Gander advises that winter parking restrictions are in effect from Nov. 1, 2016, up to and including April 30, 2017.

During this time, no vehicle shall be parked on any street between midnight and 8 a.m., regardless of weather conditions, nor may any vehicle be
parked such as to impede or interfere with snow clearing operations at any time of the day or night, at any time of the year.

Citizens are also reminded that it is illegal to throw, sweep, shovel or place snow or ice from any private property upon any Town street or sidewalk, or such that it obstructs access to fire hydrants.

Snow clearing regulations include Sections 23-26 of Town of Gander Traffic Regulations, which are available for inspection at Town Hall or in PDF format
on the Town’s official website at, in the ‘Residents’ section under ‘Protection Services’

The Town thanks residents for their patience and cooperation in keeping our streets and sidewalks clear and safe throughout the year.

The Town of Gander waste transfer station on McCurdy Drive will be accepting refuse on selected Saturdays only, year-round, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to use this facility for all household debris and surplus items that cannot otherwise be reused, re-purposed or recycled. Click here for transfer station drop-off fees in PDF format.

The Town of Gander, in conjunction with the Civic Enhancement Committee, has adopted a Memorial Park Bench and Tree Placement Program for public and business participation.

The program provides the opportunity to purchase a tree and/or bench for many occasions, i.e., in memory of a loved one, in honour of a dedicated service member, family celebrations, etc. This program is tax deductible.
